Summertime sadness

I am finally on antibiotics! Let the healing begin. Clarithromycin, which is used to great heavy duty infections (which brings me onto my second topic)- I have a chest infection. This is the second time this year I have had acute bronchitis in a year.. Though it may not sound like a very big deal, it absolutely sucks, and can be incredibly harmful.

On a side note, I dragged my butt out of bed to receive my Vega package this morning!!! Yay! Can’t wait to start feeling better and use all the goodies 😊 The omega oil couldn’t have come in at a better time!!

I am so excited to try Vega’s brand new sugar-free pre workout energizer! They have two flavours: Acai berry, and Lemon lime. I purchased lemon lime, I love citrus! 🍋🍋 Each serving is only five calories, and sweetened with stevia (yay stevia!) It includes 10 plant based performance enhancing ingredients, such as Yerba mate, green tea, and ginseng, that when working together create a balanced energy booster.
I am a bigbig longtime fan of Vega’s Energizing smoothies. My favorite flavor so far has been Vanilla almondilla, but my sister raved about Tropical tango, so I had to purchase it. I also bought a few sample of Bodacious berry to try, which I immediately put to good use as I needed to take my antibiotics without an empty stomach. I usually mix my Vega with 1 part water- 1 part almond milk, and the recommended scoop of protein. From what I could taste (damn you congestion) it was sweet- and sadly that’s about all I can say right now. It definitely filled me up, but I will do a better review on them later.

For lunch, I had what was left of my spicy kimchi soup, and chopped up a beautiful yellow zucchini!! I absolutely love squash of all kinds.

These are low in calories (one medium zucchini is only 31 calories!!) have loads of vitamins and are just plain yummy.
And yellow vegetables are ‘beauty’ aids 💛

😍😍 Oh my GOD I am freaking out! I will also do a review on these fabulous bars. I want to eat one right now, but I can barely taste anything. So best to not spoil it!

Flu fighter cookies

Day 3 of laying in bed, and I am getting bored.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind sleeping when I feel this down.. It’s just hard to sit still when my mind just wanders around aimlessly, while my body tries to fight a war.
This morning, when I made the trek to the kitchen, I decided I was going to treat myself. Not only are these cookies low on the sweet scale, they settled my stomach and actually eased my throat-thanks to the big fresh chunks of ginger I threw in 😉
Sometimes when I’m sick, I just want sweets and whatever will make me feel good in the moment.. But I know that that is not the right thing to do for my body. These bed-ridden biscuits will do just the trick, for the ailing confection lover.

Recipe is for 1 serving, yields 4 small cookies

Flu fighters
-2 tablespoons whole wheat flour
-2 tablespoons coconut flour
-1/4 teaspoon of baking powder
-dash of salt
-2 tablespoons of unsweetened apple sauce
-1/2 teaspoon chia seeds+1 teaspoon water (mixed until a gel forms)
-A few drops Vanilla Cream Stevia
-Add a few splashed of almond milk
-Add in your flu fighting toppings. I went with raw cacao chips, fresh ginger, and cranberries.

Preheat oven to 350, and mix all ingredients together. Don’t worry about doing them separately, for one I don’t feel like taking the extra step right now, and two, this recipe mixed just fine.
Form little balls and flatten on parchment, and pop in the oven for 20 minutes.

While waiting, enjoy a throat soothing lite coconut milk&berry popsicle.

Coconut milk contains lauric acid, which helps your body convert chemicals that are known to help fight of viruses-and it’s an anto-bacterial agent. Berries of all shapes, sizes, color and types keep your brain sharp, boost heart health, control weight, antioxidants- which keep your immune system in shape.

Waiting down till the very last tick tick tick.. My kitchen was filling with the strong earthy scent of ginger. And that’s about all I could smell, since my nose is so plugged, but ginger is such a fabulous anti inflammatory! DING! They were finally done. 😍

Now, you may ask ‘Will these actually make me better?
No.. I’m afraid their not a miracle cookie. There is no magic antidote in these, nor do I know the secret to wellness through baking. But, they do contain some very critical sickness fighting agents, and lets face it, their yummy and feel good on your stomach.

Coconut flour is an antibacterial, boosts energy, cleanses the body’s internal system and is high in protein.
Whole wheat flour has been shown in recent studies to produce healthier blood pressure levels, reduce inflammatory disease, reduce the risk of strokes 30-60%, and better weight management.
Unsweetened Apple sauce is awesome for queasy stomachs! It has fiber, vitamin C, and works just like butter in most recipes (lessening the fat/caloric density in any meal)
Chia seeds also high in fiber, these teensy seeds are jam packed in Omega-3’s (brain healthy goodies), manganese, phosphorous, supposedly rid the body of toxins, and when mixed with water to create a gel; can replace eggs in recipes OR make chia pudding!!!
Raw cacao nibs; NOT ‘cocoa’, this is the unprocessed form of chocolate. Rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and various minerals, raw chocolate can aid in cardiovascular function, improve digestion, and makes our brains happy (lipid anandamide)!
Cranberries strengthen the immune system in lots of ways, and also contain anti aging properties, contain citric acid that prevent and cure bladder infection, and are a blast of vitamin C.
Ginger is a given- this stuff is a cure all! I love it!

I’m going to watch Thelma&Louise now, and catch a bit more shut eye. What’s even better for your when your feeling ill than all these ‘remedies’? Rest.

Vegetarianism: my life loving veggies!

10 out of my 20 years on this planet, I have been a dedicated vegetarian.
That’s right! Half of my life, I have been a veggie-belly. Not only am I incredibly proud to say this, but I love my lifestyle.
I often get asked
‘Do you eat fish?’
‘How do you get your protein?’
‘You must miss bacon.’
And several other annoying, obnoxious questions.. Almost as annoying as when people think its okay to grab and prod at my tattoos, or call them ‘tatts or ink’. No, just sit down and shut up please.

When I was younger, I did often struggle to find nutritious ways of eating.. Pasta, cheese, and bread are always easy. Thank goodness for my mother, who is very health and nutrition based, took it upon herself to educate not only us- but also my father and her, into eating a wholesome vegetarian lifestyle.
I do not eat fish, but on occasion I do eat eggs. So I guess you could say I am an ovo-vegetarian. Their not apart of my everyday food intake-but I do enjoy them. I try to only eat eggs from a neighbors farm, and stick to free range. No, I do not miss bacon! Why would I with all the delicious substitutes on the market now a days!? And to be honest.. I don’t even remember the taste.
I also always have a good vegan protein on hand for my workouts or mixed with fruits in a smoothie as a meal replacement. Whey and casein hurt my stomach, and I believe over the years I have built up an intolerance to dairy/lactose. I don’t drink milk, and I eat very little cheese, but when I do I am sick for hours.
Some of my favorite ways to get protein are:
Beans/Legumes: Black beans, kidney beans, chickpeas, edamame/soy beans, navy beans you name it! I love them all. There are some AWESOME recipes for veggie burgers made with beans too. They can be delicious on their own, or in soups/chillis, baked, or even made into sweet baked goods like brownies. (Don’t knock it till you try it!)

Whole grains: Like quinoa and brown rice, these can be a staple food in meals. You can also make veggie patties with them! I’m a big veggie patty lover.

Tofu/Soy: While I’m not a big fan of soy milk, I absolutely love tofu!! It’s good in stirfrys, soups, grilled. It’s also a main ingredient in many dairy free cheeses, faux-‘meats’ and one of my favorites- tempeh! On the less savory side, they also make soy yogurts and ice creams! Tofu can also be blended and added to make creamy sauces- like vegan alfredo or mac&cheez!

Nuts, Seeds and Nut butters: I’ve said it before and I will say it again I LOOOVE PEANUT BUTTER! Almond butter is a close second. I also love cashews, pecans, Brazil nuts and macadamia! Vegan milks are also made from nuts and seeds, my favorites being almond and flax. 2 tablespoons of natural peanut butter contain 8g of protein- and it’s convenient. You can easily grab some nuts at a corner store or grocery and snack on them.

Seitan and Meat substitutes: Usually made of a combination of soy protein and wheat protein (so not gluten free) I have found various products I love- and a lot that are gross. It’s all trial and error! Once you find what you can enjoy, the possibilities are endless. Faux chicken, veggie ground round, hot dogs, I’ve even seen up and coming faux sea food products!

Protein supplements: My personal favorites have been anything with sprouted brown rice, pea protein and hemp. Again, I am not very big on soy milk OR protein (in a powdered form), but it’s all up to your taste buds.

Being a vegetarian started for me after coming across PETA video on animal cruelty (A la KFC.. Which my dad thoroughly enjoys and loves). That scared me, and made me think.
People really don’t think a lot about animals. Now, I have no problem with people who eat meat, my boyfriend is by vegetarian and cooks meat in our home. But people often gorge, and take advantage of what we have around us. Meat is not a necessity- but people have made it out to be that way. The quote ‘If slaughterhouses had windows, a lot more people would be vegetarian’ comes to mind when I talk to people about this topic. So many in humane practices go on in the meat industry- and that is why I am a vegetarian. I cannot stand the stupidity in society who try and fight on this matter.
If your someone who does want to keep meat a part of your diet- research it. Buy from local butchers, and farms. Though the price may be a bit higher than the average grocery store- your getting your money’s worth, for food that is proper, and not pumped full of chemicals and water, fed grain till they burst, or stuffed in stalls with various other animals living in their own filth.
Knowledge is power my friends.

Now to get back on topic! Experiment! Have fun with your food. I have had a lot of downfalls and A+’s in my vegetarian cooking/eating life. The best part of cooking healthy, is finding out what you enjoy. I love food and cooking, and I think that’s what makes food so much fun for me!
I will post a lot more vegetarian recipes soon, I promise! Still feeling not so great today 😪 so once I am back in tip top shape- let the veggie masterpieces begin!!!

Under the weather

Today I woke up feeling extra sore and crappy.. My body aches. I had been up with a wicked cough and my ears/head and sinuses feel like their about to combust!
I always find when I’m sick.. I really don’t want anything to eat. But I know my body really needs food at this point for energy- so I usually muster up something very bland- or spicy. Spicy always does for me when I am feeling yucky, because that means cayenne, ginger and garlic!!! And I am a big believer in the holistic methods- if it’s worked for hundreds of years before my time, it’s going to work now.

Being vegetarian, this is another issue. Can’t expect a bowl of chicken noodle soup to help me now can I! And getting enough protein while I’m down and out is always hard (I don’t want anything heavy sitting on my stomach, especially when I’m laying in bed all day 😷)
Some of my sick day must haves I will list below:
-Peanut butter toast bland, simple, but delicious and protein filled! Also light, and even just plain toast will do when your feeling nauseas. I find peanut butter a good spread when I don’t feel too hot because the flavor isn’t very over the top (almond can be a little strong for an upset tummy) and PB adds some extra calories to your day if you haven’t had much to eat!

-Soup plain vegetable broths (filled with ginger garlic and spices of course), carrot-ginger, sweet potato, miso with tofu.. All these are easily digestible soups, that are full of nutrients to help you fight your sickness.

-Smoothies I crave fresh fruit when I am sick! Especially oranges, a good creamy orange smoothie settles my tummy in no time. I also like to add whatever frozen fruits I have, and almond milk. Easy going down, and cold on a sore throat.

-Fresh pressed juice again, carrot ginger people!! This is a life saver. But, just about all juicing will be good at this point to fill in a little but of vitamins. So whatever your tummy can handle; juice away!!

My day started off with dragging my butt out of bed to find something for breakfast I could achieve without great effort.. So some yogurt stirred with blueberry greens, a diced peach, and 1 of my lemon-coconut energy balls crumbled on top did the trick. I laid in bed the next few hours like Cameron from Ferris Bueller’s day off reassuring myself I probably was certainly dying, and watched a movie-dozing off into a quick bout of sleep. (Anyone else find when their sick their constantly awoken by discomfort and god knows what!?)
I was stirred from my sleep a few hours later, to my phenomenal boyfriend, who had made me a pot of veggie-soy ‘chicken’ noodle soup!! (Just when I was complaining about not having that option anymore 😉!). It was absolutely amazing, spicy, and filled with our homemade whole grain pasta noodles. He sure does know how to warm my heart!

I watched another movie at this point, trying to keep my mind stimulated as I absolutely despise missing work, and dozed off for another couple hours, waiting very impatiently to go to my doctors appointment. Which turned out, to reveal I may have strep throat.. Meaning I get to sit around dying and wait on results until I can get some antibiotics in me.
*On a side note, I’m not usually this whiney when I’m sick. I think it’s because I have a lot of time on my hands and laying in bed on my phone blogging is so easy. 😆
Dinner time came around and I really just wasn’t feelin it.. I just don’t have much of an appetite now, but my boyfriend insisted.
So peanut butter&sugar free jam sandwich, and a fruit&ginger filled smoothie it was! I’m not going to complain, because both were satisfying and yummy. How often do you get to eat pb&j for dinner!? The wonders of being an adult..

Has anyone tried Dempsters Garden Vegetable bread!? Usually, I’m not big on the name brand marketed breads, because their filled with crap.. But this stuff is pretty amazing. With real vegetables baked into the loaf, whole grains, and every 2 slices contains 1/2 serving of veggies! Which honestly isn’t that amazing.. But why not sneak some vegetables into bread!? This is probably an amazing ploy to get children to eat their vegetables, but I’m loving it.
Ingredients list:
Whole grain whole wheat flour including the germ, water, vegetables (carrots, pumpkin), sugar, yeast*, vegetable oil (canola or soybean), wheat gluten, salt, vinegar, cultured wheat starch, soybean lecithin.

Ginger ale is also a perfect remedy I find- but filled with sugar, artificial flavours, and some brands contain high fructose corn syrup.. I’m not a pop drinker either, but my favorite brand of stevia sweetened sodas ‘Zevia‘ have a Ginger-Ale flavour, which my loving man brought me in hopes of lessening my grumpyness and upset stomach.

But I did get a lovely surprise in the mail to cheer me up!! My PINK Lululemon ‘Skinny Will’ pants finally arrived 😊 so I am lounging my sick butt around in them, feeling a little extra stylish and comfy.
That’s all I can muster up for today folks.. I promise I will blog something better in the next few days when I’m not feeling like death is hovering over my bedside.

Manic Monday

Two recipes in one day? I’m constantly trying new things, researching, and day dreaming of food.. So this blog will be filled in no time with tasty, healthy (and maybe a few dirty little cheats) and vegetarian recipes!!

For lunch, I was sitting on Pinterest (one of my other little guilty pleasures) searching for the perfect pancake recipe. I want something made for one, low calorie, not full of sugar, and satisfying. Just when I thought I was coming up with another empty search.. I found it. Heaven on a plate, like little clouds they floated onto my plate.

Only 145 calories for the entire recipe (minus the toppings I added) no sugar added, gluten free.. All words that pop off a page to me!
The recipe is as follows:

Dry
-1/4 cup coconut flour
-1/2 teaspoon baking powder
-1/8th of a teaspoon cinnamon
-1/8th of a teaspoon salt

Wet
-2 egg whites
-1/2 cup almond milk
-A few drops liquid vanilla stevia

Mix dry, then fold in wet. Spoon into frying pan at medium heat, flipping once golden brown.
Boooom, done!

Fluffy little clouds, look at them!!!
Coconut flour needs quite a bit more liquid than usual recipes-so stick with 1/2 cup. Don’t try to do less (or more). This is literally the perfect batter ratio, and resulted in super light pancakes- too little almond milk would mean very dense little scones, and too much would probably just bubble and burn. It’s a very finicky flour.

The topping was just coconut flakes, 1/2 cup 0%greek yogurt, stevia, and a teaspoon of almond butter whisked together. 😊
So simple, but so delicious. Enjoy!

Juice Monkey

Juice monkey.. That funky monkey! Juice monkey junkie, that funky monkey!

Jamming to some Beastie Boys this morning on my day off. Can’t help it but sing this song every time I’m juicing up something yummy! Even if I’m adding my own words to benefit myself..
Juicing has become quite popular in my house, and it’s one of my favorite things to do with my mum on Mondays. It’s apart of our ‘healthy ritual‘ to start the week off right!!
Did you know, juicing can help your body to better absorb the nutrients in veggies and fruits? As well as cleanse, boost your immune system, act as a nutrient rich jolt of energy, help to get rid of fruits and veggies on the verge of going bad, and for all of those who don’t like vegetables/fruits; get them into their diet without knowing (perfect for kids).

This mornings juice is filled to the brim with super tasty and healthy goodies!
Purple Kale:
Nicknamed ‘the queen of greens’ this leafy veggie is rich in nutrients such as Vitamin A, C and K, copper, manganese, potassium, iron, and phosphorous. It has also been said to be a cancer fighter, and is low in calories. It is a power house of healthy properties!!

Apple: Crunchy, sweet and tart, this fruit is anything but ‘forbidden’!!
They help to aid in bone protection, lower cholesterol, lower the body’s need for insulin, and also have cancer fighting properties.

Peach: High in fiber, Vitamin C, beta-carotene, iron and are a sweet treat-without the added calories. That’s just peachy if you ask me!

Carrot: Not just for rabbits guys- while many studies have also showed these orange beauties prevent cancer, they also improve vision, prevent heart disease, nourish the skin, help to clean your teeth and are a anti aging veggie!!

Ginger: This powerful herb has been viewed as a natural remedy for various ailments over the centuries. From cancer to migraines, cramps, heartburn, colds and flu! It’s a natural pain killer, is a pungent flavoring that can be used in various dishes, and has been proven to be one of the plants with the highest amounts of antioxidants! A little goes a looong way too.

My juice was even smiling at me today!!! Haha, almost at least. Then, when we decided we needed a liiitle more oomph and liquid to it.. We threw in a sweet potato.

Fibre, Vitamin B6&A,C, and E, potassium, beta-carotene. One medium sweet potato provides your body with with its complete recommended amount of Vitamin A, and are also cancer fighters. This juice is just a cancer fighting vitamin enriched machine! Delicious, nutritious, and a filling way to begin your day.
The only downfalls to juicing, are that some fibre can get lost due to the pulp that is left out after squeezing all the nutrients out of your produce.. Which leads to the other downfall: it leaves behind a LOT of pulp.. But, that pulp can be recycled into baked goods, including muffins and even pancakes, or frozen in cubes for using in broths later!

I’ll drink to that.

Coconut lemon Energy bites

After our long hike out to Raft cove and back, I realized.. We really should have thought into snacks. The trail is about 35 minutes through uphill-downhill scales, twists, turns, roots, fallen trees, staircases and bridges, which lead to one of the only sandy beaches this end of Vancouver Island!

I’m not sure what was going on in the first picture.. But drunk yoga was taking place.

The morning after, we were starvin’ Marvin. I was hating myself for not having packed something healthy and snacking for the track back.. And this revelation came once home to my den of inequity.

Lemon-coconut energy bites
-1 cup oats, blend into flour
-1 cup shredded unsweetened coconut (plus extra for rolling)
-12 pitted dates, chopped
-1 1/2 tablespoons pumpkin seed butter
-1/4 cup lemon juice (plus another 2 for consistency)

1– Blend your oats into a flour like consistency.

2-Add your coconut to the mixture and blend again. My magic bullet likes to sometimes not thoroughly mix!

3– Throw in your chopped dates. Make sure they are pitted as well, don’t want any accidental issues in the blender. This will begin to make a paste- but you will need more liquid.

4-Warm up your 1 1/2 tablespoons of pumpkin seed butter. This will greatly help it to mix! Blend, and stir with a spatula.

5-Start pouring in your lemon juice, carefully, and blending between. I needed this much liquid, but you may not need it depending on your ingredients. I felt I needed this much at least!

6– Spoon out, and roll with hands into little bite sized balls! Roll in coconut, and your done ☺

My recipe made 10, one of which I definitely ate.. Cause you have to test taste 😉 These are so good! Not to toot my own horn or anything. Super lemony, and great texture. I love anything lemon, so I often go over board with the lemon. So you can substitute water for the extra lemon if you don’t like things as tart as I do!!

Breakfast shakes, the perfect solution to a morning starting late

This summer, I feel like I have been doing nothing but waking up late. Usually, I am up at 6:30, get my workouts in, clean my house, dishes, get some laundry in and I’m out the door by 9:35 heading to work.
But it seems like no amount of my much needed java can break me from my tired zombie state.

So on days like these (which have been coming more often than not..)
I need something quick in the mining that will fill me without weighing me down. My go to is a perfect breakfast smoothie!!!
Today’s concoction included a few of my favorite’s:

0% Greek yogurt– fat free, thick, adds richness to your shakes, and is an awesome base.
Flax milk– I just recently discovered this stuff and love it. I thought it would be quite a bit like rice milk, which I do not like, but it’s FAR from it! Balanced taste, not a significant flavor, but earthy all to its own. Plus, fibre galore!
Raspberries– these little sweeties are not only fat burners, vitamin c (amongst other vitamins), antioxidants as flavonoids, their also super tasty (Im sure you knew that though!)
Spinach– Popeyes was right on this one, spinach is an anti inflammatory, protects your eyes, promotes healthy skin, and is low calorie! About 7 calories per cup.
Blueberry greens– this is my go to, all time favorite smoothie add!! (Besides nut butter!) High in more antioxidants, this powder increases energy and vitality, improves your over all cardiovascular wellness, protective nutrients for all sorts of good things (younger healthy skin, vision, fights toxins in your body) and the flavor is phenomenal. It makes anything taste like dessert!
Almond-Cashew butter– Almonds are a fabulous source of calcium for vegetarians/vegans and everyone! They also lower cholesterol, provide healthy fats (aid in weight loss), nourish the nervous system and lower the rise in blood sugar and insulin after a meal- while cashews hold heart protective healthy fats, are high in magnesium and copper.

My recipe:
*3/4 cup 0% strawberry Greek yogurt
*1 cup raspberries
*3 rounded teaspoons Blueberry Greens
*1/2 cup flax milk
*Handful of spinach
*1 tablespoon nut butter
Top it off with water, and add a few drops of stevia I used Valencia orange from SweetLeaf.
Blend and enjoy! Ohhh the benefits of a Magic Bullet ✨

Tough Mudder Whistler 2013

June 22nd, 2013 was a life changing date for me.

I woke up that morning, headed to Whistler, to battle through mud, barbed wire, electrocution, cold dirty water, uphill distances of what seemed like forever, and then some more mud with 4 of my best friends.

This was Arctic Enema. Can you tell I was having a good time already!?
If you don’t know, Tough Mudder is a 10-12 mile (18-20 k) military obstacle style course, designed to not only screw with your head- push you mentally, physically and emotionally- and really test your limits and fears.

That day we woke up to a brisk morning, not too warm, but not cold. Oh yea, and a lot of butterflies. Like a lot. I had my ‘death waiver’ in hand, and set off with a vengeance- we could do this. But, I never really knew how much fun it would be, or how much my body really could take!
Fueled on Cliff bars (which they generously supplied) and sheer dumb luck, my team and I (Appropriately named “Mudsharks”) (Yea I know, next year I’ll think of something better, don’t even start) battled through it all.

You think there will be a lot of running involved- not so much. Get your jog on to keep you warm, but don’t tire yourself out. There will be a LOT of waiting around for obstacles, but its so worth it. 19 out of 20 I was able to finish (Even the dreaded Electric Eel, failing miserable at Funky Monkey, and being tossed over a few Berlin Walls), the one I couldn’t even look at in the end was Everest.. Sadly, they saved the best for almost last, and my legs just weren’t going to let me do it. But I’m coming back next year for you Everest. Tough Mudder 2014- I WILL CONCUR YOU! Even being EXTREMELY claustrophobic, I was able to hold enough mental grit to push through Boa Constrictor and Trench Warfare!
Actually, it was Walk the Plank that scared me most. I never would have realized how afraid of heights I was until this obstacle! I think it had a lot to do with jumping 15+ feet into muddymuddyMUDDY water.. And having no idea how deep it really was.. Yea. I just about turned back. Literally, turned around, and the girl behind me said “Are you okay?” and I had to jump holding my boyfriends hand!!
BUT, it made for a good bunch of photos!

That last one though haaahahaha. Come on, bust a gut here because seriously, I was so absolutely terrified, and this just shows my deeeeep regret. Plus, I sort of yanked my boyfriend in with me.. I kind of just more dropped off than jumped.
I honestly walked the plank *no cannon balls here!*

Running through that finish line was the most amazing, heart wrenching experience I have yet felt.
By the end of the course, my team and I had split up, and it was just down to myself and my awesome man. Jogging around the corner, we saw it;
The big blow up ‘FINISH’ line balloon marking THE END. YOU DID IT. YOU TOTALLY FREAKING DID IT!
We held hands while running through the last obstacle, Electroshock Therapy, and crossed the line new people.

We were now Tough Mudders.  A hybrid breed of badass meets comrade.

We love these orange headbands. We earned them. We rock them. And we rocked them all damnnnn day and night. Actually, we wore our shirts like 3 days following that as well I’m pretty sure.

One thing I cannot stress enough, is how amazing it is out there with thousands of people you don’t even know- and the help you get. Strangers lending a helping hand, its like this mutual trust you have all because of an oath you pledge at the beginning of the course. Its a real tie. I thank everyone who saved my ass, and pushed me over things. I will never forget this awesome girl who was too afraid to go through Electric Eel alone, so we decided to slide through together. It just makes you feel GOOD to know you helped someone get through their fear.
My most memorable moment would have to be the mud fight mid obstacle that took flight during Mud Mile. Oh my god. I was picking mud out of my hair for hours after! A shower was all that was on my mind after 4 hours of pure sludge, and that shower took about half an hour to get myself relatively clean. And then a lot of it a realized was bruises *hahaha*. It didn’t hurt having booked a hotel with a hot tub, pool, eucalyptus steam room and bar alllll to ourselves practically.
All in all, I am so incredibly ecstatic that we did this. I 110% will be doing this again in the next few years to come (Everest, watch your back) and cannot wait to get dirty.
